From 17 to 20 September 2018 the city of Brest (Republic of Belarus) hosted the XV International professional contest of power industry experts from the CIS.
This year, the teams Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan demonstrated their mastery in repair and maintenance of 110 kV and higher overhead lines.
In four days, the teams went through 7 stages, where they demonstrated the knowledge of the current industry rules, instructions and norms, how to release a victim knocked by electric shock and give him/her the first aid, how to inspect 110 kV overhead line, and also to eliminate the source of fire caused by fallen 35 kV overhead line conductor.
During the competition, the participants also demonstrated their mastery of using special equipment to replace a defective spacer (РГ-2-400) on 330 kV overhead line, replace defective insulators (ПСД70 No. 12-13) in the suspension sting on the suspension tower (PB 220-1 VL 220 kV) and connect a stub loop (ACSR 300/39) on anchor metal tower of 330 kV line.
According to the total sum of points, a team of KEGOC consisting of team masters Yuri Filatov and Arman Abilov, electricians Almat Shokanov, Medet Mukangaliyev and Nikolai Yudenkov, took the second place, losing only to the hosts of the competition, the team of Baranovichi Electric Networks branch of Brestenergo RUE, Belenergo.
International professional competition of the power industry experts of the CIS have been held annually since 2004. These competitions are held not only to improve the level of professional training and safety culture, but also to share best practices and strengthen the legacy professional communication of power engineers in the CIS member states.
