Kyrgyz Power System failure caused short-term restrictions in the South of Kazakhstan


Today, 8 June at 2:49 p.m., OHTL 500 kV Toktogul HPP – Frunze was disconnected due to failure in Kyrgyz Power System. Because of the repairs at OHTL 500 kV L-504 Toktogul HPP – Lochin the generation at Toktogul HPP decreased from 700 MW up to 0 MW.

Load shedding due to emergency automation operation in Zone South of UPS of Kazakhstan amounted to 195 MW (Kazfosfat - 105 MW, Ontustyk Zharyk - 72 MW, KOREK - 18 MW).

The System Operator completely restored the power supply of the abovementioned consumers at 3:17 p.m. Emergency situation in Kyrgyz Power System was improved and at 3:39 p.m. the OHTL 500 kV L-509 Toktogul HPP – Frunze was connected.
