New line of KEGOC will improve reliability of power supply of Zhambyl and Turkestan energy centres

KEGOC successfully completed the construction of 220 kV OHTL between Tulkubas and Burnoye traction substations under Kazakhstan Electricity Transmission Rehabilitation Project, Phase II. The project is important to improve reliability of power supply of Zhambyl and Turkestan energy centres. Total length of 220 kV OHTL Tulkubas - Burnoye is 61.3 km.

The commissioning of 220 kV OHTL Tulkubas - Burnoye has solved the issue of safely disabling 220 kV OHTL Kentau-Karatau and Shymkent-Zhambyl, 500 kV OHTL L-5169 Shymkent-Zhambyl overhead lines for their maintenance. In addition, it will increase electricity transmission capacity to the southern region of Kazakhstan.

Prior to the implementation of this project, 220 kV Kyzylsai, Tulkubas, and Burnoye traction substations had single side power supply, which significantly reduced the reliability of power supply to electrified railway. After the commissioning of these substations provide double side independent supply.

Currently, all construction works are completed, and 220 kV OHTL Tulkubas-Burnoye is live at 220 kV.
