The extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of KEGOC by absent voting was held on 27 April 2020 to review the agenda item of ‘Election of a member of KEGOC's Board of Directors’.
Based on the results of this meeting, Zhanbota Bekenov was elected as an independent director of the Board of Directors of KEGOC.
Zhanbota Bekenov graduated from Almaty National Economy Institute in 1985 and is currently a Co-managing Partner of Grant Thornton LLP in Kazakhstan since January 2016. Prior to this, Zhanbota Bekenov worked in Almaty office of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Kazakhstan for 22 years, including 17 years as a CEO and 12 years as an audit partner. Prior to PwC, Zhanbota Bekenov worked in Ernst & Young Kazakhstan for 2 years, and before this - in the Audit office of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 8 years (1985-1992), including 5 years as a Head of Division. In total, Zhanbota Bekenov has 32 years' experience in accounting, taxation and audit of financial statements in accordance with Kazakhstan Accounting Standards, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and USA Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (USA GAAP) in the different areas such as: oil and gas, mining industry, energy, utilities, metallurgy, manufacturing, transport and logistics, financial services, telecommunications, consumer goods, agriculture and many others. Zhanbota Bekenov has a license from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan on auditing and consulting and he delivered lectures on the principles of financial audit in Almaty National Economy Institute.
Zhanbota Bekenov was a Vice President of the Chamber of Auditors of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a member of the Council of this professional organization for 18 years.
Currently, Zhanbota Bekenov is Co-managing Partner of Grant Thornton Kazakhstan LLP.
